Pastry Chef Saruda “View” Wirat opened her eponymously named pastry shop in a quiet nook of trendy Nimman area, with her partner, husband and biggest fan Narissorn “Jum” Somsawasdi. At first glance, the selection of pastries, tortes, cakes and cookies are strikingly vibrant and absolutely perfect in technique and execution. Having studied under some of pastry’s biggest stars such as Cedric Grolet, and Julien Alvarez, Chef Saruda’s creations are inspired by the finest, yet she makes them her own. Take her Orange Bliss, resembling a true orange so accurately that you can’t help but go in for closer inspection. Upon breaking open the thin outer layer, we discover a multilayered world of mandarin ganache, grande marnier, white chocolate and an oozing fresh orange compote, finished off with a dusting of gold. Her desserts are well-balanced, inventive, light and surprisingly not overly sweet. Fancy desserts never tasted so good. One more please!
