Visakha Bucha Day
Thailand & Southeast Asia | 22 May 2024
Visakha Bucha, one of Thailand’s most important religious festivals, falls on the full moon of the sixth lunar month, in late May or early June. Visakha Bucha, which in some countries is called Vesak, commemorates
the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha. Worshippers in Thailand and nearby countries like Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos and Singapore are swept up in a wave of religious feeling as local temples reverberate with rituals and sermons. Tourists can visit Buddhist temples to soak up the spiritual aura and the piety of monks and locals.
