Bangkok Airways Invites Visually Impaired Children to ‘Touch the Stars’
Bangkok Airways’ mission to expand equal access to learning hit new heights recently with the third edition of its project, “Even Though We Can’t See the Moon, We Can Still Touch the Stars”.
The initiative – a collaboration with the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation – delivers immersive astronomy learning experiences for visually impaired children at one of Thailand’s finest stargazing locations, the summit of Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai.
This year’s astronomy learning camp welcomed 51 students and teachers from the School for the Blind and the Blind with Multiple Disabilities in Lop Buri Province. Bangkok Airways provided transport to Chiang Mai, where participants engaged in specially designed astronomy activities developed by NARIT for visually impaired learners. The group was supported by the airline’s Blue Volunteers team, who provided close assistance and care to ensure a meaningful experience.
The two-day programme began with sensory-based learning at Chiang Mai Zoo, where the activity “Sensing the Zoo: Touching Animals, Hearing Real Sounds” allowed students to explore wildlife through touch and sound. The group then visited the Princess Sirindhorn AstroPark for imagination-driven astronomy activities, including a hands-on clay workshop themed “Extraterrestrial Life”, the “Sky in My Hands” experience inside the planetarium, and guided tours of astronomy exhibitions that expanded their understanding of space in creative and accessible ways.
On the second day, participants visited the National Radio Astronomy Observatory at the Huai Hong Khrai Royal Development Study Centre in Doi Saket District to learn about radio astronomy. In the afternoon, they continued to Doi Inthanon in Chom Thong District to explore natural phenomena through a hands-on experiment demonstrating changes in air pressure and temperature using snack bags. The day concluded with an immersive nature experience at Wachirathan Waterfall, where students felt the cool mist and spray firsthand.
Before reaching the programme’s high point, the group visited the Princess Sirindhorn 7th Cycle National Observatory, also known as the National Observatory, to learn about different types of telescopes and touch the base of Thailand’s national telescope. At the summit of Doi Inthanon, they explored tactile models of lunar craters and observed Jupiter through a telescope – transforming a cold mountain night with the warmth of shared learning and opportunity.
Although many participants live with profound visual impairments, some were able to perceive bright stars and planets as glittering points of light. These activities – blending tactile exploration, sound-based learning, and imagination – demonstrated that astronomy can transcend sight and deliver the wonders of the cosmos to all. Knowledge, warmth, and inspiration through experience and connection.

เมื่อเร็วๆ นี้ บริษัท การบินกรุงเทพ จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือสายการบินบางกอกแอร์เวย์ส ร่วมกับสถาบันวิจัยดาราศาสตร์แห่งชาติ (องค์การมหาชน) หรือ NARIT กระทรวงการอุดมศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ วิจัย และนวัตกรรม (อว.) เดินหน้าสานต่อภารกิจส่งเสริมโอกาสการเรียนรู้ที่เท่าเทียม เปิดโอกาสให้น้องๆ ผู้บกพร่องทางการมองเห็นได้เรียนรู้พร้อมสัมผัสธรรมชาติและดวงดาวในรูปแบบเสมือนจริงผ่านค่ายส่งเสริมโอกาสการเรียนรู้ดาราศาสตร์สำหรับผู้บกพร่องทางการเห็น ภายใต้โครงการ “แม้มองไม่เห็นแสงจันทร์ แต่สัมผัสได้ถึงดวงดาว” ต่อเนื่องเป็นปีที่ 3 ณ ท้องฟ้าที่ดีที่สุดของประเทศไทยบนยอดดอยอินทนนท์ จังหวัดเชียงใหม่
ค่ายส่งเสริมโอกาสการเรียนรู้ดาราศาสตร์สำหรับผู้บกพร่องทางการเห็นในครั้งนี้ ได้พาคณะนักเรียนและคุณครูจากโรงเรียนการศึกษาคนตาบอดและคนตาบอดพิการซ้ำซ้อน จังหวัดลพบุรี รวมจำนวน 51 คน เดินทางสู่จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ โดยสายการบินบางกอกแอร์เวย์สเพื่อร่วมสัมผัสและเรียนรู้ผ่านกิจกรรมดาราศาสตร์ของ NARIT ซึ่งกิจกรรมทั้งหมดได้รับการออกแบบเป็นพิเศษสำหรับผู้มีความบกพร่องทางการเห็น พร้อมมีทีมจิตอาสา Blue Volunteers ให้การดูแลอย่างใกล้ชิดตลอดระยะเวลาการเข้าร่วมกิจกรรม
กิจกรรมตลอดระยะเวลา 2 วัน เริ่มต้นเปิดประสบการณ์การเรียรู้ผ่านประสาทสัมผัส ณ สวนสัตว์เชียงใหม่ (Chiang Mai Zoo) กับกิจกรรม “Sensing the Zoo: สัมผัสสัตว์ ฟังเสียงจริง” ที่เปิดโอกาสให้น้องๆ ได้เรียนรู้ผ่านการสัมผัสและการฟังเสียงสัตว์อย่างใกล้ชิด ก่อนเดินทางสู่อุทยานดาราศาสตร์สิรินธร เพื่อร่วมกิจกรรมด้านดาราศาตร์ที่ช่วยจุดประกายจินตนาการ ได้แก่ กิจกรรม “สิ่งมีชีวิตนอกโลก” ที่ให้น้องๆ ถ่ายทอดภาพในจินตนาการผ่านการปั้นด้วยมือ กิจกรรม “ท้องฟ้าในมือฉัน” ภายในท้องฟ้าจำลอง ตลอดจนเยี่ยมชมนิทรรศการดาราศาสตร์ เพื่อเปิดโลกความรู้ด้านดาราศาสตร์และอวกาศอย่างสร้างสรรค์
ส่วนวันที่สอง น้องๆ เดินทางสู่หอสังเกตการณ์ดาราศาสตร์วิทยุแห่งชาติ ณ ศูนย์ศึกษาการพัฒนาห้วยฮ่องไคร้ อันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ อำเภอดอยสะเก็ด จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เพื่อเรียนรู้ดาราศาสตร์ในช่วงคลื่นวิทยุ ก่อนเดินทางต่อในช่วงบ่ายสู่ดอยอินทนนท์ อำเภอจอมทอง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เพื่อเรียนรู้ปรากฏการณ์ทางธรรมชาติผ่านกิจกรรมทดลองการเปลี่ยนแปลงของอุณหภูมิและความดันอากาศจากถุงขนม พร้อมสัมผัสธรรมชาติและละอองน้ำตก ณ น้ำตกวชิรธาร
ก่อนเข้าสู่ช่วงไฮไลต์ของกิจกรรม คณะฯ เข้าเยี่ยมชมหอดูดาวเฉลิมพระเกียรติ 7 รอบ พระชนมพรรษา หรือ หอดูดาวแห่งชาติ เรียนรู้และสัมผัสกล้องโทรทรรศน์ชนิดต่างๆ รวมถึงการสัมผัสแบะโอบฐานกล้องโทรทรรศน์แห่งชาติ ก่อนเดินทางขึ้นสู่ยอดดอยอินทนนท์เรียนรู้และสัมผัสแบบจำลองหลุมดวงจันทร์และร่วมสังเกตการณ์ดาวพฤหัสบดีผ่านกล้องโทรทรรศน์ ท่ามกลางอากาศหนาวเย็นบนยอดดอยอินทนนท์ แต่เปี่ยมไปด้วยความอบอุ่นจากการแบ่งปันโอกาสทางการเรียนรู้
แม้น้องๆ ส่วนใหญ่จะมีข้อจำกัดด้านการมองเห็นและไม่สามารถมองเห็นท้องฟ้าได้อย่างชัดเจน แต่ยังสามารถรับรู้ความสว่างของวัตถุบนท้องฟ้าได้ อาทิเช่น ดาวฤกษ์และดาวเคราะห์ในลักษณะของจุดแสงเล็กๆ ผสานกับการเรียนรู้ผ่านการสัมผัสการฟังเสียงและการใช้จินตนาการ กิจกรรมทั้งหมดจึงสะท้อนให้เห็นว่า “ดาราศาสตร์” ไม่ได้จำกัดอยู่เพียงการรับรู้ด้วยสายตาแต่สามารถส่งมอบความรู้ ความอบอุ่น และแรงบันดาลใจได้ด้วยหัวใจ
ทั้งนี้ บางกอกแอร์เวย์สให้ความสำคัญกับการส่งเสริมโอกาสการเรียนรู้ด้านดาราศาสตร์ไปสู่บุคคลผู้มีความต้องการพิเศษเพื่อให้ทุกคนสามารถเข้าถึงดาราศาตร์ได้อย่างเท่าเทียม พร้อมสร้างแรงบันดาลใจ เสริมสร้างจินตนาการ และพัฒนากระบวนการคิดเชิงวิทยาศาสตร์ผ่านประสบการณ์จริง สอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนของสหประชาชาติ (Sustainable Development Goals: SDGs) ภายใต้แนวคิด “ไม่ทิ้งใครไว้ข้างหลัง” ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงเจตนารมณ์ของบางกอกแอร์เวย์สในการขับเคลื่อนการพัฒนามิติด้านสังคมผ่านการส่งเสริมโอกาสทางการเรียนรู้ที่เท่าเทียมและครอบคลุมสำหรับบุคคลผู้มีความต้องการพิเศษ
