M+ Museum Hong Kong
A Poetic Connection
Hong Kong | Now – 30 Aug 2026

Part gallery installation, part intimate phone call, this radical exhibition at M+ revives one of art’s most iconic democratic experiments. In 1968, American poet John Giorno invited writers and musicians to record works accessible to anyone who dialled a telephone. Now, the project has arrived at Asia’s hub of contemporary art, with 30 new recordings by local poets in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Visitors pick up the earpiece of a touch-tone phone and listen to a randomly chosen poem. Or they can simply dial +852 3009 9386 from anywhere in the city to enjoy the same experience. This groundbreaking exhibit at the Focus Gallery is a meditative, surprisingly moving experience amid M+’s landmark collection of 20th and 21st century visual art.
