Weaving Tales with Woodwinds
Luang Prabang
in the historic heart of Luang Prabang, Garavek Storytelling Theatre brings the soul of Laos to life with myths, legends and folklore narrated by local storytellers to the haunting rhythm of the khene (traditional bamboo mouth organ).
From the origin stories of the Mekong River and Mount Phusi, to the antics of the trickster Xieng Mieng and the rise of Kong Chao Fa Ngum, these hour-long sessions weave a fascinating tapestry of history, spirituality and pure imagination.
Delivered in English in a cosy theatre, the nightly performances offer a rare and entertaining glimpse into traditions that continue to shape Lao identity and heritage.
