Sweet Taste of the Past
Chiang Mai

In the rush of modern life, some traditions refuse to die – and Chanfong is one of them. This café is a shrine to traditional Thai sweets, updating old favourites in everyday indulgences. Each dessert is a taste of bygone times: some preserved in family recipes, others crafted from childhood memories, and all adapted for modern palates while staying true their delicious roots.

The menu spans the familiar and the forgotten. You’ll find beloved classics like Taro Pla Krim (taro dumplings in coconut milk), Inthanin (pandan dumplings in coconut milk), Kluay Chueam (banana soaked in syrup), alongside rare gems like Khanom Wong (crispy caramel-coated doughnuts) and Khanom Kluea (savoury doughnuts with coconut custard). For old-fashioned curiosities, try the crisp Khanom Hang Jing Jok (“lizard’s tail” sweet) and the chewy Khanom Lin Maa (“dog’s tongue” sweet).

Chanfong turns sugar, coconut milk and exotic ingredients into edible stories, where a single spoonful of purple Bua Loy (sweet potato dumplings) connects generations.
