End of Buddhist Lent
Thailand, Laos | 28 Oct 2023

Ok Phansa marks the end of rainy season and the three-month Buddhist Lent. Falling on the full moon of the 12th lunar month, the holy day is marked in most parts of Thailand and in Laos, where it is known as Boun Ok Phansa. The occasion is marked by visiting temples, offering food, and various local traditions such as launching flower floats, candlelight processions, fireworks, illuminated boat processions, decorated temples, and old-time carnivals.

Sale of alcohol is restricted on Ok Phansa and other holy days in Thailand.
