Hong Kong Arts Festival
Hong Kong | 28 Feb 2025 – 29 Mar 2025
The 53rd Hong Kong Arts Festival promises a dazzling array of performances in February 2025, headlined by two beloved classics – Shanghai Yue Opera House’s “Family” and “The Butterfly Lovers (Yuan & Fan Version)”.
Other festival highlights include a rare staging of Bizet’s Carmen as it was originally performed in 1875, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the composer’s passing. A musical adaption of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, directed by Emma Rice, adds a dramatic touch. Fans of literature can also look forward to TS Eliot’s The Waste Land through the lens of hip-hop.
The festival kicks off with the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna performing works by Rossini and Mendelsshn under Donato Renzetti’s baton. Fascinating exhibitions, masterclasses, and interactive performances will further enhance this feast of culture. www.hk.artsfestival.org/en
