A Second Life for Gentle Giants
Koh Chang
The story of Klogn Son Elephant Camp began 30 years ago when Thailand officially ended logging, leaving many elephants out of work and with nowhere to live. Friends of the gentle giants decided to build them a home and offer them a second life – one rooted in care, peaceful coexistence and dignity.
The first elephant camp on Koh Chang, Klong Son is surrounded by orchards, rubber plantations and natural streams, giving the majestic creatures a tranquil environment suited to their natural rhythms.
Visitors are welcome to spend time with the residents, taking them for walks or joining the fun during bathtime. The camp encourages encounters grounded in respect rather than exploitation – allowing elephants, humans and nature to write a new story together, chapter by chapter.
22/16, Moo 3, Koh Chang sub-district, Koh Chang district, Trat; Open 9am to 3pm;
