Just 45 minutes from Chiang Mai city centre, the Queen Sirikit Botanic Gardens offers an enchanting escape for visitors, whether by wandering through themed gardens, exploring collections of tropical plants or admiring colourful orchids. The trail to Mae Sa Noi waterfall winds serenely through the Tropical Rainforest House, showcasing Southeast Asian species like palms, banana and ginger. For a bird’s-eye perspective, embark on a 400-metre canopy walk 20 metres above the gardens. But don’t miss the Arid House for its desert flora from America, Mexico, Peru, and Brazil, the Aquatic House boasting over 100 aquatic plant species, or the Water Lily and Lotus House displaying more than 60 lotus and lily varieties from Japan and China.
