Sacred Heart
Phuket
If you’re interested in Buddhist temples, be sure to visit Wat Chaitharam or Wat Chalong. Built in the early 19th century, Wat Chalong is dominated by the 60-metre-tall chedi, which houses relics of the Buddha.
The temple itself is dedicated to two monks revered for tending to locals during a rebellion by Chinese tin miners in 1876. The grounds feature lovingly maintained flower gardens and fountains, with several buildings open to devotees and tourists. However, the most striking is the three-storey chedi, which sports vivid paintings inside and offers a bird’s eye view from the top.
